Yeoui-Naru Ferry Terminal

The Yeoui-Naru Ferry Terminal is MEAN*'s 2017 competition entry for Seoul. It treats the terminal as the meeting point of the river and the park. The entrance aligns with the park's main promenade and would bring visitors, without obstruction, to the water's edge. A canopy would give entry and shelter to those waiting for ferries.

The canopy is designed to sit on a lightweight woven steel frame supporting modular panels, with columns that arch in two directions. Its roofing takes the Korean giwa roof, built from overlapping clay tiles, as its model and is made of repeated modules. The six panel types include seating, skylights, decking and a solar roof.
