Willow Pavilion, Socrates Sculpture Park

‘Willow’ proposes a system of four canopies that shelter visitors from sun and rain and give the park a recognizable place to gather.
‍
‘Willow’ was our 2016 entry to Folly/Function 2017, a competition organized by Socrates Sculpture Park and the Architectural League of New York.

The canopies were meant to serve the park’s year-round, family-oriented program of art exhibitions, performances and workshops.

Our proposal is a light, modular system designed to be put up and taken down, with a form borrowed from the surrounding trees.
