House 00

house-00-villa-for-solitude

House 00 is a proposed retreat on Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, for time alone and time with guests. The 2000 sqm house borrows from local residential architecture, with an inner courtyard and a separate Women's Majlis and Men's Majlis. It is organized into east and west wings around the courtyard.

The limestone and glass façade is designed to read as a single, clearly man-made mass. Its pattern continues upward as a coffered slab over the courtyard, making a shaded outdoor room. The upper floor is rotated 45 degrees to align with the mountain cliff, and skylights let daylight in without opening the rooms to view.
